TOGETHER WE THRIVE
As we reflect on our past—a hundred years of inspirational giving—we now turn toward the future and the possibilities we can achieve. What began with the ancestors of the Burlington Community Chest continues today through the United Way of Southeast Iowa, as we build upon their legacy.
Through our agencies and advocacy, we strive not only to inspire and work hard to change lives in our community but also to cultivate solutions that break the relentless cycle of poverty in Southeast Iowa. We recognize that the challenges our community faces—hunger, housing instability, childcare access, and sustainable living—are deeply interconnected. That’s why our team takes a holistic approach, breaking down these barriers to their core and collaborating with the right experts, backed by accurate and relevant data, to drive meaningful, long-term impact.
These Bold Goals reflect the core struggles shared by our community members. By focusing on these key areas, we are committed to strengthening Southeast Iowa and building a brighter, more equitable future.
We believe that every family deserves the opportunity to thrive, and united is the way we can break the cycle and end poverty.
IN 2025, OUR FOCUS WILL BE...
As we come to embrace disruptive changes, and fight the fear that creeps in. We still have the heart in us to continue pursuing success for the people that need it most. That is why in 2024, we are going to focus on addressing the following:
- Addressing Homelessness & Affordable Housing
- Helping Children Succeed Through Education & Early Childhood Supports
- Strengthening Families Through Economic Empowerment & Essential Services
While these may not be solved within a year, we hope to ease the stress and burden on the Southeast Iowan community by partnering with agencies further building new services to help our members thrive.
