Homelessness Taskforce

HOMELESSNESS TASKFORCE

As our community continues to struggle with an influx of population slowly dipping below the ALICE threshold, and many beyond the Poverty line, our Homelessness Taskforce has been hard at work.

Whether it’s seeking further funding for the local Homeless Shelters, or attempting to pull in grants to help build up the community housing for our homeless population, these community leaders continue to seek out and assist where they are able.

This taskforce is open for those to join that have ideas surrounding how to assist our homeless population with temporary housing, permanent housing, assisted living assistance, financial assistance and security of homeless individuals, and more. If you feel like you have good ideas, consider contacting us at 319-752-7831, to speak with us about attending a meeting.

If you’d prefer to drop in on a meeting, our next meeting will be held:

BURLINGTON CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS

Second Thursday Every Month at 4:30PM | 400 Washington St, Burlington, IA, 52601

We encourage citizens of the public to partake in our meetings from time to time, however to participate as a member of the Homelessness Taskforce you must be appointed by the City directly. These individuals are then tasked with the opportunity to try to make a lasting impact and help bring in the funds needed to help our residents to the best of their capabilities.

If you are a public citizen wishing to attend one of our meetings, please be appropriately dressed and considerate during the meeting at which you are attending. We appreciate not just those that can attend but also those that reach out to us directly to submit their ideas and potential tips on how they feel things can be adjusted to better assist the homeless.

Below you’ll find our tip form, prior to each meeting any new forms submitted will be printed and given to the Homelessness Taskforce to review. They may review them prior to the start of the meeting, or may review them during the meeting. Regardless, this helps allow those unable to participate in the meetings to share their thoughts.
